K9 Express instructors have attended and judged many agility
trials across Canada. We've noticed that the level of handling has
shown dramatic improvement in those areas which have multiple clubs
and training schools - not only are there more trials, but there
are more active participants helping each other improve their abilities
and enjoyment of the game.
Individually, Cindy, Stew, Matt, and Darcy made it their long term
goals to be on the podium at the AAC Nationals. We also set short
term goals: better obstacle performance, more efficient handling,
and improved communication with our dogs. Training is not an individual
endeavour, though - feedback from like-minded people is an important
part of the learning process and it quickly became apparent that
working and training together was a major boost toward our goals.
It also became apparent that we could help even more handlers—who
may also have these goals—by teaching them what we know. This
can do nothing but improve the sport of agility in Calgary. |
